CLTNCE Test Administration

The CLTNCE will be administered on Nov. 5, 2022 at Gallaudet University. Valid, passing scores on the prerequisite tests, the CAECS-E and CAECS-R, must be submitted at the time of registration. Scores awarded in years 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 will be considered valid for CLTNCE registration. These prerequisites aim to help candidates assess their current skill level. If you suspect your skills have changed, we encourage you to retake the tests with sufficient time to incorporate feedback.

Test administration is contingent on Gallaudet University’s policies regarding in-person events on campus, which can change with fluctuating rates of COVID infection.

Moratorium CAECS-E & CAECS-R

The TECUnit is updating procedures for administering the CAECS-E and CAECS-R. A task force is exploring feasibility of online, direct, remote proctoring by the TECUnit. This would significantly streamline the administration process, eliminate the need to send and return materials through the mail, and get test submissions to raters more quickly. We’re excited about this advancement and its potential benefit to the community. In order to allocate resources to begin this process, the TECUnit has established a moratorium on the Cued American English Competency Screening - Expressive (CAECS-E) and the Cued American English Competency Screening - Receptive (CAECS-R) through August 31, 2021.. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but this temporary interruption will support a smoother experience for test takers and better security for test materials. Thank you.
